TrainerX is a South African-based food supplement company that formulates and markets nutritional products using Schedule 0 ingredients. Our products are designed to support general wellness and vitality and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
All manufacturing and encapsulation is outsourced to Department of Health-certified food facilities that follow strict SOPs, hygiene protocols, and batch documentation standards. In-house powder filling is conducted under controlled hygienic conditions.
Regulatory Position
TrainerX operates under the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act (Act 54 of 1972) and is not regulated by SAHPRA because:
- Our products contain no scheduled substances beyond Schedule 0.
- We make no therapeutic claims.
- Our products are marketed as nutritional supplements, not medicines.
Encapsulation or dosage form (e.g., capsules, sachets) does not automatically classify a product as a medicine. SAHPRA’s jurisdiction applies only when a product:
- Makes therapeutic claims, or
- Contains scheduled substances (Schedule 1 and above).
As confirmed by the Supreme Court of Appeal ruling (April 2022), not all complementary medicines or health supplements are medicines. Products like ours, which do not meet the legal definition of a medicine, are not subject to SAHPRA registration.
